Funny Chase

So being a mom of a child that's learning to talk and learning to think is quite hilarious. Chase often says funny things, and today has been full of them. I decided to write down some of the conversations I've had with him today, just for laughs. Here we go.

Conversation #1

Me: Chase, are you stinky?

Chase: Nope.

Me: Chase, you need to tell the truth. Telling a lie is naughty. I’m going to ask one more time if you’re stinky, and if you don’t tell the truth then you’ll get in trouble. Chase, are you stinky?

Chase: Mmm, I don’t know.

Conversation #2

Preface: After I put Chase down for a nap I heard him jumping on the bed. I went in.

Me: Chase, no jumping on your bed during nap time. Nap time is for sleeping, not jumping. Please sit down right now.

Chase: (Staring at me for a moment.) Please sit down right now.

Me: Chase, sit or lay down on your bed now please.

Chase: Sit or lay down now please.

Me: 1…

Chase: 1….

Me: 2…

Chase: 2…

Me: (Have to leave because I start giggling, then come back.) Chase, I’m going to count to 3 and if you don’t sit down you’re going to get a spanking. 1…

Chase: 1….

Me: 2…

Chase: 2…

Me: 3… Ok, you get a spanking.

Chase: 3… Ok, you get a spanking.

Me: (Spanking) Now lay down on the bed for your nap.

Chase: Lay down on bed for your nap.

Me: Chase…?

Chase: Momma…?

(I gave up. Then I realized I could threaten to take his cars away. He lied down. Why didn’t I think of that first?)

Conversation #3

Preface: I put him down for a nap at 1:30, he came out at 3:00 without any sleep wrinkles and eyes wide open. I got suspicious.

Chase: Hi momma.

Me: Chase, did you take a nap?

Chase: Um…no.

Me: You didn’t take a nap?

Chase: Mmmm, no I didn’t.

Me: Come here.

Chase: Ok, yes momma.

Me: Thank you for telling me the truth.

Conversation #4

Preface: I found him hiding in a corner and I smelled you know what.

Me: Chase, are you stinky?

Chase: No, I’m hiding.

Me: Are you hiding cuz you’re stinky?

Chase: Momma, you go hide too.

Conversation #5

Preface: Chase talks to me ALL the time, so as the day goes on I respond less and less.)

Chase: (Watching the movie Cars) Momma there’s The King, just like my King.

Me: (I nod)

Chase: Momma, can you talk to me?

Just a day in the life of a mother of a 2 year old.

Your boy is so funny. Kind of reminds me of mine, I guess they must have been great friends in heaven, just like I thought when Chase was born. Oh, by the way, it's Karen Herrington, from Wymount. I found your cousin's blog, Loni, I went to high school with her, and then I found you guys. I have been wondering about you guys. Your kids are adorable. Check us out at mkeherrington.blogspot.com. We are back in Utah, we moved to CA right after graduation, but that didn't work out. So here were are back in Utah, in Pleasant Grove. Mike is an assistant manager at an Enterprise branch in Midvale. It looks like you are in Boston(?) My former neighbor moved there, Shannon and James Bischoff. It's a long shot, I know. What are you guys up to? What is Rick doing now? I hope you don't mind that I am a snoop and found you guys. I was thinking about you a lot lately. I'm glad I found you. Hope you have a great day!

To sum it up

To sum up the last 9 months... We went to Disney World and Universal in March with Rick’s family. It was a BLAST! Favorite part was Harry Potter world. Favorite ride was Rockin’ Roller coaster, or Hogwarts castle, or the Avatar ride.  Rick and I coached track March-May. It was fun but stressful. I like doing something for the community. I don’t like running a program w my husband and not enough adult help.   Kids finished school in May and we went on a camping trip Memorial weekend to St Joe State Park with our favorite people, Richardsons. Some other ward families came too. Marcellino’s and Smith’s.  Summer hit, Soleil got baptized, and Rick got a job offer to work for Cricut in Utah. Finally a job closer to family! We spent three very stressful weeks prepping our house for sale and then took off to Utah driving both our cars on July 13th.  The following week we vacationed in Lake Powell with my family. After coming home from that we settled into Heather’s basement ...

2019 is my year to Be Prepared

Last year I decided to make a goal that involved one phrase, no guilt. That phrase stuck in my mind all year long, and guided me through a lot of situations. I found by the end of the year, that I really had changed because of those two words. In all the years past that I have set goals, I have set very specific reachable things. I always find that a few months into the year my motivation drops off and I don’t follow through with the goal. By the end of the year I either feel disappointed in myself, or I can’t even remember what my goal was to begin with. Last year was different in a very good way. So I’ve decided to do the same thing this year. After pondering and praying about what my goal should be this year, I came up with the phrase be prepared. There are so many ways to be prepared in life, spiritually, physically, temporarily, etc. I find that a lot of my stress on a daily basis could be remedied if I had only spent a little time before hand to prepare for that moment for that s...

Golf date

We went on a group date Friday night with our best friends here in St Louis, Wilson’s and Richardson’s. We went to a new place in Chesterfield called Top Golf. We ate yummy food and visited while we hit golf balls off a platform. It was the first time I had ever hit golf balls in a real way, aside from miniature golf. It was harder than it looks. Everyone had fun and I came home sore.
