Off to the Hospital AGAIN....

Yes, so Chase just can't seem to stay away from that hospital. We have now made 5 visits to the ER in the last 5 1/2 months, and 5 overnight stays. Can anyone beat that? I hope not. When they said kids were expensive, we had NO idea.
(so tired after a long painful night)
So a week ago Friday night, Chase had another episode of Intussusception. For anyone who doesn't remember from the last time he had it, back in May, it is a medical condition in which a part of the small intestine slides into another section of intestine, similar to the way in which a collapsible telescope slides into itself. It blocks passage in the intestine and is very painful. If it is not corrected quickly, the tissue can start to lose blood circulation and eventually die, causing a SERIOUS problem. Anyway, luckily this time we found it early since we've already gone through this once.
(watching movies, keeping George close)
So went straight to the ER, did the routine X-ray and Ultrasound, got it fixed, and did our 24-hour stay while they monitored him to make sure it didn't recur. We got to go home Sunday morning. (This is the REALLY short version).
(so happy to see his sister)
We had a nice Sabbath day, watched Conference, enjoyed being home, and had friends come over to visit. Just as our friends were about to leave, it happened AGAIN! Chase started crying, tensing his muscles and doubling over his stomach in pain. No way, was this really happening? So we ended up back in the ER Sunday night, did the routine X-ray and Ultrasound, diagnosed it as his THRID intussusception (there is a 3-11% chance of it happening more than once), fixed it, and kept him for 2 more days, to do tests and stuff. The tests came back negative so they don't know why he keeps having this problem, but for now we're just crossing our fingers that it doesn't happen again.
(going to dinner, much happier with sister here)
The poor little guy got poked with needles for IV's, had several VERY uncomfortable enemas, and just plain endured a lot of pain. He was a pretty good sport about the whole thing after the not-so-fun part was over, and he got to drink as much juice as he wanted, eat popsicles, and watch movies all day. He even discovered how fun it was to push the red "nurse" button on his bed and call for anything he wanted. "I have to go to the bathroom", "another movie please" were a few of his requests.

We love our Chase-man so so so much and are so glad his tummy is feeling better. I think next year we'll opt for the higher premium insurance plan with a lower deductible. What do you think?

Aw poor little guy. Our little boys are in the ER alot too. Ethan our oldest was in the instacare/ ER twice in a week. He hit his leg on the counter and broke skin. Then the day after he got his stitches out he got some in his forhead. Kids are EXPENSIVE!!!!!
Anyways I will pray that he is not sick anymore that he will get through this.
What a weekend you had, Chase is just such a cutie, it makes me so sad he had to endure all the pain and discomfort. His sweet little sister looks like she loves her big brother alot..we will all keep chase in our prayers and hope he doesnt have to go through that again..We are here at grandmas with your mom, we had so much fun today, wish you were here with us!

Amber! I am so sorry that you have had to deal with this! The hospital is no fun. I can't imagine what it would be like to watch your little guy in so much pain. Good luck, I hope he doesn't have to go through that ever again.
Maybe you guys should just rent a room at the hospital. Might make financial sense...

Can't believe such a cute kid has problems on the inside.

Amber, I can't even imagine what you've been through emotionally & physically with all this. I hope Chase continues to do well. What a scary thing to have happen...it's so hard to have your children uncomfortable/in pain and not able to fix it right away.

I'm glad he's better, and I can guarantee that if you switch your plan it won't happen! That's just the way it always seems to go. In fact, maybe you should switch so it doesn't happen again!

To sum it up

To sum up the last 9 months... We went to Disney World and Universal in March with Rick’s family. It was a BLAST! Favorite part was Harry Potter world. Favorite ride was Rockin’ Roller coaster, or Hogwarts castle, or the Avatar ride.  Rick and I coached track March-May. It was fun but stressful. I like doing something for the community. I don’t like running a program w my husband and not enough adult help.   Kids finished school in May and we went on a camping trip Memorial weekend to St Joe State Park with our favorite people, Richardsons. Some other ward families came too. Marcellino’s and Smith’s.  Summer hit, Soleil got baptized, and Rick got a job offer to work for Cricut in Utah. Finally a job closer to family! We spent three very stressful weeks prepping our house for sale and then took off to Utah driving both our cars on July 13th.  The following week we vacationed in Lake Powell with my family. After coming home from that we settled into Heather’s basement ...

2019 is my year to Be Prepared

Last year I decided to make a goal that involved one phrase, no guilt. That phrase stuck in my mind all year long, and guided me through a lot of situations. I found by the end of the year, that I really had changed because of those two words. In all the years past that I have set goals, I have set very specific reachable things. I always find that a few months into the year my motivation drops off and I don’t follow through with the goal. By the end of the year I either feel disappointed in myself, or I can’t even remember what my goal was to begin with. Last year was different in a very good way. So I’ve decided to do the same thing this year. After pondering and praying about what my goal should be this year, I came up with the phrase be prepared. There are so many ways to be prepared in life, spiritually, physically, temporarily, etc. I find that a lot of my stress on a daily basis could be remedied if I had only spent a little time before hand to prepare for that moment for that s...

Golf date

We went on a group date Friday night with our best friends here in St Louis, Wilson’s and Richardson’s. We went to a new place in Chesterfield called Top Golf. We ate yummy food and visited while we hit golf balls off a platform. It was the first time I had ever hit golf balls in a real way, aside from miniature golf. It was harder than it looks. Everyone had fun and I came home sore.
