Yes, so Chase just can't seem to stay away from that hospital. We have now made 5 visits to the ER in the last 5 1/2 months, and 5 overnight stays. Can anyone beat that? I hope not. When they said kids were expensive, we had NO idea.
So a week ago Friday night, Chase had another episode of Intussusception. For anyone who doesn't remember from the last time he had it, back in May, it is a medical condition in which a part of the small intestine slides into another section of intestine, similar to the way in which a collapsible telescope slides into itself. It blocks passage in the intestine and is very painful. If it is not corrected quickly, the tissue can start to lose blood circulation and eventually die, causing a SERIOUS problem. Anyway, luckily this time we found it early since we've already gone through this once.
So went straight to the ER, did the routine X-ray and Ultrasound, got it fixed, and did our 24-hour stay while they monitored him to make sure it didn't recur. We got to go home Sunday morning. (This is the REALLY short version).
We had a nice Sabbath day, watched Conference, enjoyed being home, and had friends come over to visit. Just as our friends were about to leave, it happened AGAIN! Chase started crying, tensing his muscles and doubling over his stomach in pain. No way, was this really happening? So we ended up back in the ER Sunday night, did the routine X-ray and Ultrasound, diagnosed it as his THRID intussusception (there is a 3-11% chance of it happening more than once), fixed it, and kept him for 2 more days, to do tests and stuff. The tests came back negative so they don't know why he keeps having this problem, but for now we're just crossing our fingers that it doesn't happen again.
The poor little guy got poked with needles for IV's, had several VERY uncomfortable enemas, and just plain endured a lot of pain. He was a pretty good sport about the whole thing after the not-so-fun part was over, and he got to drink as much juice as he wanted, eat popsicles, and watch movies all day. He even discovered how fun it was to push the red "nurse" button on his bed and call for anything he wanted. "I have to go to the bathroom", "another movie please" were a few of his requests.
We love our Chase-man so so so much and are so glad his tummy is feeling better. I think next year we'll opt for the higher premium insurance plan with a lower deductible. What do you think?
(so tired after a long painful night)

(watching movies, keeping George close)

(so happy to see his sister)

(going to dinner, much happier with sister here)

Anyways I will pray that he is not sick anymore that he will get through this.
Can't believe such a cute kid has problems on the inside.
