Sick Season

Oh my goodness, this has been such a sick season for our family. I don't know if we're just not good handwashers, or if stress has lowered our immunse systems, or if it's just a bad season, but it seems like we've been sick SO much. It all started back in October with Rick and Amelie and Chase all catching the Swine flu, and then Chase being hospitalized. It's been off and on coughs and runny noses since then and flu symptoms, and this past couple weeks have been really bad. Rick got strep really bad last weekend, and both Amelie and I got it too. Ours wasn't as bad as Rick's so we didn't get on antibiotics right away because we didn't know we had it. I only had a minor sore throat, but I had a terrible stomach ache along with the usual flu achiness and chills. Amelie never complained of a sore throat either, but she's complained of stomach aches and also had some fevers. Who would have known strep couldn't manifest so differently? And poor little Sawyer is just covered with rashes all over his body. They started last weekend and the poor little guy has been so itchy. I took him to the doctor and found out he has impetigo on his cheeks (a bacterial infection from strep), cradle cap on the back of his head, and eczeema on the rest of his body. He's been taking an antibiotic for the impetigo, I've been putting on a prescription strength oil for his cradle cap, and eucerin/cortisone for the eczeema. And on top of this I've got a yeast infection from nursing and the worst stye on my eye that I've ever had. Yes, we're in sad shape. But we're getting better, I think.

Wish I had some pictures, but my camera's been broken for a few weeks and I haven't been able to get it fixed because we've all been sick.

By the way, Happy Anniversary honey. Today is our 7th anniversary and it just so happens that I'm in Boise and Rick is in Provo. So we'll have to celebrate later, but I love you babe!

OH! No!
I can't believe everyone has all that and you have a yeast infection! I have been there many times...I know exactly what you the pain is like...I feel so bad for you. I hope the medication is working and that you feel better soon. By the way, there is an ointment here that is supposed to be like whipped vaseline for eczema. You should ask the pharmacist if they have it. A friend of ours uses it on her son and she swears by it...more so than cetaphil or aquaphor. I'll be praying for you guys! Remember...there's always a rainbow at the end of the storm.

It is no fun being sick. We have had coughs and sniffles on and off since January too. David and Zachary are both on antibiotics for ear infections. Luckily, I have been feeling pretty good with only a little dry cough. Russ has a bit of cold. Jacob has had exzema since he was a baby. I really like Aquaphor for that, he has also had to have a steroid cream subscribed when it has gotten really bad.

It must be Utah. Nobody in Mass is sick . . . so you better come back. Actually by the time Rick is finished we'll only have another year here - woah, that sucks that Rick will be finished before Jared. I am so sorry that you've had all of that at once. You've always had the iron stomach who can take care of your kiddos/hubby when they get sick so I'm so sorry that you got sick too. Poor baby boy with all that going on too.
What a crappy anniversary. I hope you guys make it up when you're together and have time and are not sick and don't have three young children and don't have MBA responsibilities and - NO just kidding - oh look at me go on and on. we miss you guys - bye.

Hey Amber! My husband told me that you guys got the ConAgra internship in Boise! That is such great news! I am sure your mom is absolutely THRILLED that you'll be there for the summer. I'm happy that it has all worked out!

To sum it up

To sum up the last 9 months... We went to Disney World and Universal in March with Rick’s family. It was a BLAST! Favorite part was Harry Potter world. Favorite ride was Rockin’ Roller coaster, or Hogwarts castle, or the Avatar ride.  Rick and I coached track March-May. It was fun but stressful. I like doing something for the community. I don’t like running a program w my husband and not enough adult help.   Kids finished school in May and we went on a camping trip Memorial weekend to St Joe State Park with our favorite people, Richardsons. Some other ward families came too. Marcellino’s and Smith’s.  Summer hit, Soleil got baptized, and Rick got a job offer to work for Cricut in Utah. Finally a job closer to family! We spent three very stressful weeks prepping our house for sale and then took off to Utah driving both our cars on July 13th.  The following week we vacationed in Lake Powell with my family. After coming home from that we settled into Heather’s basement ...

2019 is my year to Be Prepared

Last year I decided to make a goal that involved one phrase, no guilt. That phrase stuck in my mind all year long, and guided me through a lot of situations. I found by the end of the year, that I really had changed because of those two words. In all the years past that I have set goals, I have set very specific reachable things. I always find that a few months into the year my motivation drops off and I don’t follow through with the goal. By the end of the year I either feel disappointed in myself, or I can’t even remember what my goal was to begin with. Last year was different in a very good way. So I’ve decided to do the same thing this year. After pondering and praying about what my goal should be this year, I came up with the phrase be prepared. There are so many ways to be prepared in life, spiritually, physically, temporarily, etc. I find that a lot of my stress on a daily basis could be remedied if I had only spent a little time before hand to prepare for that moment for that s...

Golf date

We went on a group date Friday night with our best friends here in St Louis, Wilson’s and Richardson’s. We went to a new place in Chesterfield called Top Golf. We ate yummy food and visited while we hit golf balls off a platform. It was the first time I had ever hit golf balls in a real way, aside from miniature golf. It was harder than it looks. Everyone had fun and I came home sore.
