A Wonderful Mother's Day

Yesterday was quite possibly the most wonderful Mother's Day I've experienced so far. It started Saturday night with Rick getting up and bringing Sawyer to me in the night, so all I had to do was lay there and feed him. Then he got up with him in the morning and let me sleep in, which was delectable! I can't remember the last time I just got to sleep in with no children calling! He even had the house nice and clean when I awoke. The kids greeted me with hugs and kisses and "I love you"s which set the feeling of the day. Then, we attended church with my parents which was a special treat. I think my mom was in heaven just having the kids there on her special day, and I was in heaven not having them crawling on me! After church, we went to my mom's house and she and I lounged on the couch and watched Oprah while the guys fixed dinner. Hev-uuuuuhn! And to top it off, the food was actually delicious! mimied eggs, bacon, and hash browns...Mmmm...nothing like breakfast for dinner. After dinner, we didn't even have to clean up. We retreated back to the couch to finish Oprah, and then took naps while the guys took care of the kiddos. Rick even fed Sawyer a bottle so I wouldn't be disturbed. It was so wonderful. I think when I woke up from napping I laid there for about 30 min just enjoying the fact that I didn't have to get up for any reason at all. Oh it was so nice. I got a very sweet card from my cute kids who drew their own pictures and dictated messages for dad to write. And Rick gave me a wonderful electric back massager that I've been eying at Brookstone. The gift was nice, but it was the least favorite part of my day. I mostly enjoyed having a real "day off", a break from taking care of anyone but myself, without having to feel guilty about it. It was wonderful! I would like to instigate Mother's Day once a month. All in favor say "Aye!" Thanks honey for making me feel special.

Cooking away! I know it looks like they're trying to figure out how to turn the stove on, but really, they had it under control.

To sum it up

To sum up the last 9 months... We went to Disney World and Universal in March with Rick’s family. It was a BLAST! Favorite part was Harry Potter world. Favorite ride was Rockin’ Roller coaster, or Hogwarts castle, or the Avatar ride.  Rick and I coached track March-May. It was fun but stressful. I like doing something for the community. I don’t like running a program w my husband and not enough adult help.   Kids finished school in May and we went on a camping trip Memorial weekend to St Joe State Park with our favorite people, Richardsons. Some other ward families came too. Marcellino’s and Smith’s.  Summer hit, Soleil got baptized, and Rick got a job offer to work for Cricut in Utah. Finally a job closer to family! We spent three very stressful weeks prepping our house for sale and then took off to Utah driving both our cars on July 13th.  The following week we vacationed in Lake Powell with my family. After coming home from that we settled into Heather’s basement ...

2019 is my year to Be Prepared

Last year I decided to make a goal that involved one phrase, no guilt. That phrase stuck in my mind all year long, and guided me through a lot of situations. I found by the end of the year, that I really had changed because of those two words. In all the years past that I have set goals, I have set very specific reachable things. I always find that a few months into the year my motivation drops off and I don’t follow through with the goal. By the end of the year I either feel disappointed in myself, or I can’t even remember what my goal was to begin with. Last year was different in a very good way. So I’ve decided to do the same thing this year. After pondering and praying about what my goal should be this year, I came up with the phrase be prepared. There are so many ways to be prepared in life, spiritually, physically, temporarily, etc. I find that a lot of my stress on a daily basis could be remedied if I had only spent a little time before hand to prepare for that moment for that s...

Golf date

We went on a group date Friday night with our best friends here in St Louis, Wilson’s and Richardson’s. We went to a new place in Chesterfield called Top Golf. We ate yummy food and visited while we hit golf balls off a platform. It was the first time I had ever hit golf balls in a real way, aside from miniature golf. It was harder than it looks. Everyone had fun and I came home sore.
