Christmas Eve

We're in Boise for Christmas this year! We're so excited. The kids kept asking every day if we could leave yet. The only down side so far was that our 2 day drive turned into a 3 day drive due to a snow storm. We started our drive on Friday up to Roseville to see Grandma Bonnie. It was so fun to visit her, even if it was just overnight. She is such a happy bubbly positive person and it just makes you feel good being around her. Saturday we planned to finish our drive, but were met with a surprise. A snow storm in Donner's Pass closed the road temporarily and then when it was opened we were seriously going about 5 mph thru it. Not fun at all, with or without kids. We ended up having to throw down $90 for tire chains and then $60 to stay at a motel. So the normal 2 hr drive from Roseville to Reno turned into an 8 hr drive. Yuck!

After our stay at Motel 6 in Winnemucca (Side note: that place is ghetto) we finished our drive to Boise arriving while the fam was at church. Kinda sad we missed the Sunday before Christmas. So much for all that time I spent picking out our Christmas Sunday attire. Oh well.

Since arriving yesterday though we have so enjoyed being together as a family. The kids have been having a blast playing with their cousin Ashton and getting to know new baby Jake. And I have enjoyed talking and visiting with my mom and sisters.

Today we did the funniest thing. We went to Gold Fork hot springs and enjoyed lounging together in the hot natural springs surrounded by a beautiful backdrop of snow-covered pine trees. Couldn't have been a more perfect Christmas Eve.

To sum it up

To sum up the last 9 months... We went to Disney World and Universal in March with Rick’s family. It was a BLAST! Favorite part was Harry Potter world. Favorite ride was Rockin’ Roller coaster, or Hogwarts castle, or the Avatar ride.  Rick and I coached track March-May. It was fun but stressful. I like doing something for the community. I don’t like running a program w my husband and not enough adult help.   Kids finished school in May and we went on a camping trip Memorial weekend to St Joe State Park with our favorite people, Richardsons. Some other ward families came too. Marcellino’s and Smith’s.  Summer hit, Soleil got baptized, and Rick got a job offer to work for Cricut in Utah. Finally a job closer to family! We spent three very stressful weeks prepping our house for sale and then took off to Utah driving both our cars on July 13th.  The following week we vacationed in Lake Powell with my family. After coming home from that we settled into Heather’s basement ...

2019 is my year to Be Prepared

Last year I decided to make a goal that involved one phrase, no guilt. That phrase stuck in my mind all year long, and guided me through a lot of situations. I found by the end of the year, that I really had changed because of those two words. In all the years past that I have set goals, I have set very specific reachable things. I always find that a few months into the year my motivation drops off and I don’t follow through with the goal. By the end of the year I either feel disappointed in myself, or I can’t even remember what my goal was to begin with. Last year was different in a very good way. So I’ve decided to do the same thing this year. After pondering and praying about what my goal should be this year, I came up with the phrase be prepared. There are so many ways to be prepared in life, spiritually, physically, temporarily, etc. I find that a lot of my stress on a daily basis could be remedied if I had only spent a little time before hand to prepare for that moment for that s...

Golf date

We went on a group date Friday night with our best friends here in St Louis, Wilson’s and Richardson’s. We went to a new place in Chesterfield called Top Golf. We ate yummy food and visited while we hit golf balls off a platform. It was the first time I had ever hit golf balls in a real way, aside from miniature golf. It was harder than it looks. Everyone had fun and I came home sore.
