Poor Chase

This kid has been through the ringer I swear. When Spring hit he got really bad allergies where his eyes would swell up and get bright red and super itchy and sting. And he would cry because they were hurting so bad. I didn't know if it was related to the pollen or the animals or what, so I made him an appointment to see an allergist.

We went into the appoinent having no idea what to expect.  When the doc described the process of allergy testing Chase's face went ghost white. They pretty much stabbed him with needles that held different drops of allergens on them, and he had to hold still and not itch it for 15 min while his back swelled up like an army of Mosquitos just hit!  It was NOT fun and boy was he a trooper.

I was blowing on his back almost the entire time because it seemed to lessen the itch and I nearly fainted. I told Amelie to run and get the nurse if she saw me fall to the floor.  Meanwhile Soleil is in timeout against the wall for something, I can't remember what. And Sawyer walks over to check Chase out and says matter-of-factly, "Mom is he dead? Chase are you dead?"  Sometimes I think we are a walking circus.

After it was over Chase told me his muscles "felt like they were working". I think it was his way of saying his muscles felt alive and pumped because he had tensed up for so long.

From the pics you can see the places that swelled up the biggest are the things he's most allergic to. Turns out he's quite allergic to cats (much to our :( dismay) but VERY allergic to tree and grass pollens. Glad we at least figured it out. Zyrtec should take care of those things but now what to do about the cat.....
Top left is cat allergy
Bottom is different kinds of pollen
Feeling much better from the calming affect of cortisone cream and Zyrtec

To sum it up

To sum up the last 9 months... We went to Disney World and Universal in March with Rick’s family. It was a BLAST! Favorite part was Harry Potter world. Favorite ride was Rockin’ Roller coaster, or Hogwarts castle, or the Avatar ride.  Rick and I coached track March-May. It was fun but stressful. I like doing something for the community. I don’t like running a program w my husband and not enough adult help.   Kids finished school in May and we went on a camping trip Memorial weekend to St Joe State Park with our favorite people, Richardsons. Some other ward families came too. Marcellino’s and Smith’s.  Summer hit, Soleil got baptized, and Rick got a job offer to work for Cricut in Utah. Finally a job closer to family! We spent three very stressful weeks prepping our house for sale and then took off to Utah driving both our cars on July 13th.  The following week we vacationed in Lake Powell with my family. After coming home from that we settled into Heather’s basement ...

2019 is my year to Be Prepared

Last year I decided to make a goal that involved one phrase, no guilt. That phrase stuck in my mind all year long, and guided me through a lot of situations. I found by the end of the year, that I really had changed because of those two words. In all the years past that I have set goals, I have set very specific reachable things. I always find that a few months into the year my motivation drops off and I don’t follow through with the goal. By the end of the year I either feel disappointed in myself, or I can’t even remember what my goal was to begin with. Last year was different in a very good way. So I’ve decided to do the same thing this year. After pondering and praying about what my goal should be this year, I came up with the phrase be prepared. There are so many ways to be prepared in life, spiritually, physically, temporarily, etc. I find that a lot of my stress on a daily basis could be remedied if I had only spent a little time before hand to prepare for that moment for that s...

Golf date

We went on a group date Friday night with our best friends here in St Louis, Wilson’s and Richardson’s. We went to a new place in Chesterfield called Top Golf. We ate yummy food and visited while we hit golf balls off a platform. It was the first time I had ever hit golf balls in a real way, aside from miniature golf. It was harder than it looks. Everyone had fun and I came home sore.
