Heading to Florida

We started our trip to Florida. So far so good.  We made a stop in Hopkinsville, Kentucky to taste some good ol fashioned Kentucky fried chicken. "Yelp" led us to this place called The Homestead, and boy do we give them 5 stars!  Truly country and downright delicious!  Not only the fried chicken, but also the sweet potatoes, the corn muffins, the rolls with strawberry butter, cole slaw, mac n cheese, & green beans. The only thing I didn't like was the turnip greens. I was feeling adventurous and those didn't make the cut. Overall a delicious and memorable Kentucky experience. Oh!  And we passed an Amish (or Menonite) man driving a horse-pulled wagon on the road into town!

For some reason Soleil is really excited about Nashville. Not exactly sure why but I'm thinking maybe we've hyped it up and so she thinks it's gonna be awesome. Just now approaching Nashville on the freeway and seeing the Skyline she exclaimed "I love it here! I wanna live here!"  When questioned why, she said "because the states, they are so cool, and the cities!"  Yeah, that's what I was thinking....

We got settled into our hotel room and of course all the kids wanted to do was swim. And swim. And swim. Rick and I decided that next time we'll save the gas money and just get a hotel close to home.

And in 5 seconds they were out...dreaming about tomorrow's adventures I hope.

To sum it up

To sum up the last 9 months... We went to Disney World and Universal in March with Rick’s family. It was a BLAST! Favorite part was Harry Potter world. Favorite ride was Rockin’ Roller coaster, or Hogwarts castle, or the Avatar ride.  Rick and I coached track March-May. It was fun but stressful. I like doing something for the community. I don’t like running a program w my husband and not enough adult help.   Kids finished school in May and we went on a camping trip Memorial weekend to St Joe State Park with our favorite people, Richardsons. Some other ward families came too. Marcellino’s and Smith’s.  Summer hit, Soleil got baptized, and Rick got a job offer to work for Cricut in Utah. Finally a job closer to family! We spent three very stressful weeks prepping our house for sale and then took off to Utah driving both our cars on July 13th.  The following week we vacationed in Lake Powell with my family. After coming home from that we settled into Heather’s basement ...

2019 is my year to Be Prepared

Last year I decided to make a goal that involved one phrase, no guilt. That phrase stuck in my mind all year long, and guided me through a lot of situations. I found by the end of the year, that I really had changed because of those two words. In all the years past that I have set goals, I have set very specific reachable things. I always find that a few months into the year my motivation drops off and I don’t follow through with the goal. By the end of the year I either feel disappointed in myself, or I can’t even remember what my goal was to begin with. Last year was different in a very good way. So I’ve decided to do the same thing this year. After pondering and praying about what my goal should be this year, I came up with the phrase be prepared. There are so many ways to be prepared in life, spiritually, physically, temporarily, etc. I find that a lot of my stress on a daily basis could be remedied if I had only spent a little time before hand to prepare for that moment for that s...

Golf date

We went on a group date Friday night with our best friends here in St Louis, Wilson’s and Richardson’s. We went to a new place in Chesterfield called Top Golf. We ate yummy food and visited while we hit golf balls off a platform. It was the first time I had ever hit golf balls in a real way, aside from miniature golf. It was harder than it looks. Everyone had fun and I came home sore.
