And how could I forget...

You thought you were competitive? Well are you willing to risk it all for a gunny sack race? This guy is. Broken collar bone, near the shoulder joint, no way to cast it, doesn't need surgery, dr says it should heal on its own. Lotta pain, lotta pain medication, ibuprofen, constant icing, and sleeping inclined. The good news? He has a live-in nurse. The bad news? I just got my 5th child.  Oh but don't worry, he's making the best of it. (In case you didn't notice, that's 3 football games going on at once.) Trying to do a little work from home.  And lastly?!!  Amelie lost her first tooth today! She was so excited. Hopefully the tooth fairy remembers to come ;)

Catch up

It's been a while, so here's a quick catch up.  We hit up Magic Mountain and the water park for Labor Day. Kids had a blast, dad and I were exhausted. I never realized how tired my parents must have been when they took us to do super fun things. Thanks mom and dad.  I discovered how to keep Soleil happy while I'm cooking...put her to work!  She was having such a great time washing dishes.  Sawyer is my little cook. He loves to help me make things.  Why do I love seeing these two freshly bathed kids cozying up on the couch to a show?  Maybe it's because I know that too soon they won't be able to do this anymore.  I let the kids eat dinner outside. I looked out the window to check on them and they were all saying a prayer together, by themselves, no prompting from me. Happy moment :) Saywe and I making funny faces on FaceTime with Papa. Sure miss seeing them.  Everything with Disney is magical, right down to online shopping. How can you not be excit...

I hate grocery shopping

(I wrote this a week ago and forgot to post it) Is there someone that actually likes grocery shopping? Maybe but I've never met anyone that has admitted it.  It takes so long.  Gives me a headache looking at all the prices and brands and nutrition labels.  It's summer and I'm freezing cuz it's so cold in there.  And then when your cart is overflowing you gotta unload everything onto a conveyor belt.  Then you have to hide your shock when they read the final price cuz you had no idea you'd spent that much. And at that point it's too late to figure out what to put back.  And THEN after all that? You gotta get it into the car, and then take it into the house, and THEN put it ALL away! I'm just sitting in the car right now exhausted trying to get some energy back to do the next part. I just hate it. I think from now on I'll look into online grocery shopping. I hear its the new thing.  By the way, just look at the price difference here!  There's a reas...

Moooom! Come and find meeee!

Sawyer and Soleil have been really into hide-and-seek lately. They hide in the most obvious places and then yell "Moooom! Come and find meeeee!" Today at Walmart I hear Soleil yell this so I turn around to see this.  Haha! Surprised me that she even fit under there.  I wish I would have taken a picture of her peeking out as proof that she really was under there!

A new hairdresser in the family

And this is just a classic Soleil face. I keep laughing just looking at it. Maybe it's just because I'm her mom.

Conversations with kids this evening

Amelie reading Soleil's potty book to Sawyer: "And see he has a penis so he stands up to pee."  Me: so Amelie what do girls have? Amelie (very matter of fact): Girls have chinases so they sit down but boys stand up cuz they have long things.  (China and long things huh...) ******************** At family home evening talking about eternal families and being sealed in the temple.  Me: So you know your cousins Saffron and Willa and Cyrus? They didn't come from Emily's tummy so they went to the temple as a family to be sealed together.  Chase: Wait! Cyrus? He did too come from Emily's tummy.  Me: No he didn't.  Chase: Yes he did.  Me: Really? With brown skin and black curly hair? Chase: Well...yeah Me: And how did that happen? Chase: Well I thought since they adopted two girls with brown skin then Heavenly Father sent them a baby so it could match.  (Good thinkin')

Potty training has officially begun

And this girl couldn't make it easier. I swear she is training herself. It is so awesome! She's been asking to use the toilet for over a month, and I've let her try off and on, but not consistently. So I finally bought pull-ups and a potty book and underwear and started the process today. But she is so excited and motivated to use the toilet on her own that I've hardly done anything other than ask her if she wants to go every few hours. And usually she does! And I've only used pull-ups so far so there hasn't been any mess to clean up. I've just kept it really low-key, haven't even told her that we're "training" because then I think she will play mind games on me and decide that if she has to do it then she doesn't want to. And she is so excited about her Minnie Mouse and Ariel pull-ups, it's just too cute! We'll see if this keeps up, I'm crossing my fingers!
