One of those days

Yesterday was one of THOSE days, yeah, the kind you wish you could skip over.  It all began with a broken down car.  Aren't car troubles usually at the heart of bad days?  Well, it just so happens that Rick's faithful car is finally dying, so it's been in the shop getting some repairs.  Since we were supposed to have it back yesterday but never got the call to come retrieve it, Rick was left without a car for work today.  So I said, "Just take the van, it'll be fine, I'm not going anywhere today."  Oh how those little words came back to haunt me.  It turned out that Chase never got to school because we both slept in, so he missed catching a ride on time and I didn't have a car to take him late.  Then my dear friend who usually picks up Amelie for preschool called to say she wouldn't be going today, but I thought "no biggie, I'll just call someone else".  Two phone calls and three text messages later, I couldn't get a hold of any...

Church-goers

Of course Sawyer knelt down on the ground and got his suit filthy before we even stepped inside the building.

The stare

I get occasional emails from BabyCenter.com about the developmental stages of my kids.  I was reading the one about my 9 month old and it said "Your baby may be the most sociable young creature around - until somebody unfamiliar comes near."  This made me laugh because it is so true.  Estelle is so full of personality, laughing and babbling and smiling at anything, until a stranger comes near.  Then it's like a dark cloud comes over her and she stares them down with an expressionless face determined to refrain from any kind of smile no matter how hard they are trying to please her.  It's so funny.  Apparently this is normal, so don't take it personal ;) By they way, the thought occurred to me today that at this point with Sawyer I got pregnant again....freaked me out!
Finally got a few bites of peas in her, woohoo!

I'm disgusted

So a while back I got into this book, Real Food: What to Eat and Why . I really liked it because it talked about the health benefits of getting back to natural foods, pure, raw, unprocessed, the way God gave them to us.  It just felt right you know?  I also watched this video I found on Netflix called Food Inc. (click here to watch a 2-min preview)  It opened my eyes to where my food comes from, and how inhumanely some animals are treated as they are raised, and how they are pumped with antibiotics and hormones to quicken their growth.  You are what you eat people, and if an animal is full of antibiotics and hormones and is extremely stressed because of poor living conditions and crappy food, then how good can it be for your body to eat it?  I resolved to pay more attention to the food I eat, not just the nutrition label but where it comes from and how it is made.  I don't want to be a vegetarian, I just want happy healthy animals in my body :)...

A Good Day

Today was a great day.  Everyone in our family seemed truly happy.  Rick thinks it's because we spent family time together yesterday at Disneyland.  I think it's because the house is clean.  He doesn't believe me, but I know I'm right ;)  Anyway, it doesn't really matter, it's just been a good day.  Rick and I laughed this morning a lot, really hard, we haven't done that in a while.  It felt good.  We had a decent day at church, and I made it through without my usual back pain.  We had pizza for dinner which the kids downed so I didn't have to threaten them to keep eating.  And we had some friends over for a s'more roasting party.  The kids had a blast playing and we enjoyed visiting, and now everyone is sleeping, and the house is tidied up, and I'm relaxing.  A great way to end a great day.  Thank you clean house, thank you Spirit, please stick around.

Biker dude

Sawyer got this bike for his 2nd birthday, and it's proving to be worth its weight in gold.  He rides it EVERY day, LOVES it, is FEARLESS on it, and look what it has taught him to do.

Today

Sawyer was ecstatic to meet Tigger & friends. Sawyer acting like a little man and reading the park map while walking. Riding the carousel. Riding tea cups. Poor Lele has an infection on her toe. She's taking antibiotics for it. That's today!
