Soleil-isms and a few from the mouth of Sawyer

Mom I have a stummy ache.  Mom it was an askident (accident).  Mom can I put on my swim soup? Mom I have a tummy ache on my knee from drinking all that soda  (pointing to her thigh).  While driving in the car I paused the kids' movie to say "I love you". Sawyer replies quickly "me too now can you turn the movie back on!"  Embarrassing moment.  In a public restroom stall with my toddler and she asks loudly "Mommy you got a rash?"  Which I didnt and had no idea what she was referring to but no one else that overheard knew that.   Sawyer shouts in the store suddenly, "I gotta go to the bathroom. I need to poop, I'm trying really hard to hold it in." TMI Sawyer, TMI.  In the store, Soleil shouts suddenly "mom I need to go the the bathroom!" and she grabs her crotch and announces "I just peed a little bit mom that's all."  TMI Soleil, TMI.

The frights of parenthood

Scary things happen when you're a parent. Tonight I stayed up to do some house stuff and just after I turned off the kitchen lights and am standing in the dark silence of the kitchen, I suddenly hear the pitter patter of little feet on the hardwood floor, and then nothing. My immediate thought is that a ghost child is haunting me but I quickly brush that thought aside and assume a logical explanation. "Soleil?" I call. She peeks her head around the corner with the brightest 3am eyes I've ever seen. "What are you DOING honey!?"  Her reply is to stare at me with a growing grin on her face as if she's been up to something but doesn't want to tell me what.  How in the world is she so bright-eyed at 3am???  I'm still wondering.   This experience doesn't quite match the fright of waking up in the pitch black of night to a child staring at your face.

Quote of the day

Sawyer was outside playing.   The mailman pulled up and asked him, "Would you like some mail?" Sawyer's reply, "No, we already have some." Hahaha!  Boy is that an understatement!  No more mail please!  It's coming out of our ears!  And no more school papers for that matter too.  Thanks Sawyer, for keepin' it real.  I just love this kid.

Soleil is 3!

Can't believe my baby girl is 3. It's pretty weird for me to think that I've never had a 3 year old without also having a baby. The farthest span between my kids is 33 months so this is a new and exciting adventure for me!   We started the morning out with favorite cereal and presents. Then we headed to The Magic House for the real fun in the afternoon. And we ended the day with a ribs and nacho dinner at Super Smokers. It was fun!  This girl is ALL girl. Loves accessorizing and makeup and you name it. She can even strike a pose and that is all her, I did not teach her that nor tell her to do it. Haha! There are so any fun activities here. The kids love it! Blue Man Group pipes Fixing the stuffed animals at the pet clinic This was the end of the day and as you can see Soleil is reaching the end of her rope. Throwing a fit about chair colors.  The Build-a-bear outfit she chose with Grandma and Grandpa's gift card. Of course pink and pu...

Poor Chase

This kid has been through the ringer I swear. When Spring hit he got really bad allergies where his eyes would swell up and get bright red and super itchy and sting. And he would cry because they were hurting so bad. I didn't know if it was related to the pollen or the animals or what, so I made him an appointment to see an allergist.  We went into the appoinent having no idea what to expect.  When the doc described the process of allergy testing Chase's face went ghost white. They pretty much stabbed him with needles that held different drops of allergens on them, and he had to hold still and not itch it for 15 min while his back swelled up like an army of Mosquitos just hit!  It was NOT fun and boy was he a trooper.  I was blowing on his back almost the entire time because it seemed to lessen the itch and I nearly fainted. I told Amelie to run and get the nurse if she saw me fall to the floor.  Meanwhile Soleil is in timeout against the wall for something, I c...

Life without Facebook

About 1 month ago I deleted my Facebook app on my phone. I found that for ME it was very addicting. It's the first time in my life where I really think I was addicted to something, like I couldn't stop myself from getting on it, and couldn't pull myself off, and was constantly having urges to check it. It was a scary moment pressing "delete", and I wondered how long I could go before reinstalling it, and if I would feel I was missing out on stuff.  I am happy to say I have resisted the urge to reinstall my app several times now and have  gone for a whole month without it on my phone. That's not to say that I haven't been on Facebook, just that I can only access it through my computer, which I don't use very often, and I no longer have access to it every second of the day.  What have I learned so far from this? 1. Socializing online is not very fulfilling. I much prefer face-to-face interaction because I get an immediate response with a current emotion....

Today is the pool

Our neighborhood has the funniest pool! And it's free!!  Can't get better than free entertainment and loads of smiles and giggles. Sawyer says it's "double triple fun!"
