I'm so thankful to the men and women who served our country so that we can enjoy the freedom that we have today. We celebrated our Memorial Day by picnicking at the park with ward friends, and then Rick took the boys to the movies while I took the girls swimming. It was a really fun day we got to spend together as a family, and it couldn't happen without the sacrifice and service of brave men and women who fight to protect our freedoms. I'm so thankful to them, and thankful for this great country we have to live in, that allows me to enjoy the pleasure of life with my family. And I especially am grateful to the men in my family who have served: my father-in-law Karl Swensen, my grandpa Tom Woltmon, and my great uncle Earl, who died at 19 while serving. Thank you, thank you, thank you, to you all. Your service is not forgotten. God Bless America!
in P U E R T O R I C O !!! So Rick (along with his other teammates) received a reward trip from work to vacation in Puerto Rico for 4 days! Since I constitute his other half I got to cash in on the reward. So we spent a 4-day weekend get-a-way at a huge resort on the coast of Puerto Rico without the kiddos (thanks mom for flying in to care for them while we were away:). It was fantastic! We stayed at El Conquistador Resort , which was situated on a sloping hill facing the beautiful Caribbean ocean. Our room was right there in the middle (2nd floor) and our balcony opened up to a view of the blue blue sea. That little island you see out there in the distance is Palomino Island . That's where the beach was located and we had to ride the ferry out there to play in the sand and get some sun (unless we wanted to lounge around the pool, but I'm more for the authentic beach feel).
