Last year I decided to make a goal that involved one phrase, no guilt. That phrase stuck in my mind all year long, and guided me through a lot of situations. I found by the end of the year, that I really had changed because of those two words. In all the years past that I have set goals, I have set very specific reachable things. I always find that a few months into the year my motivation drops off and I don’t follow through with the goal. By the end of the year I either feel disappointed in myself, or I can’t even remember what my goal was to begin with. Last year was different in a very good way. So I’ve decided to do the same thing this year.
After pondering and praying about what my goal should be this year, I came up with the phrase be prepared. There are so many ways to be prepared in life, spiritually, physically, temporarily, etc. I find that a lot of my stress on a daily basis could be remedied if I had only spent a little time before hand to prepare for that moment for that situation or that day.
I hope this year that as those two little words “be prepared” echo in my mind, it will motivate me to continue making small changes to prepare for the future minutes of the day, the future days of the month, the future months of the year, and the future years ahead. I hope that I will feel less stress and more peace facing the future with more preparation.
In addition, I asked my husband and children to also make similar goals. This is what they came up with.
Rick, be engaged.
Chase, create.
Amelie, think happy thoughts.
Sawyer, be tidy.
Soleil, remember the lights.
I’m excited to see what comes of this! Hopefully a year of change. For the better. :) I love new beginnings and fresh starts.
